Horses & Journeys Program
Horses & Journeys provides equine assisted psychotherapy, learning, and wellness services to individuals, families and groups. Community Access provides these services in partnership with Red Barn Stables, LLC.
Horses & Journeys - Warrior Wellness is a project that combines equine assisted learning with guided hiking to assist military service members, both active duty and veterans, identify and strengthen their own practices for wellness. The project offers and promotes healthy lifestyles and develops/strengthens natural and community-based supports. Horses & Journeys: Warrior Wellness receives funding from the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation. The collaborative partners include: Community Access, Inc., Red Barn Stables, LLC, Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, Kanawha County Parks and Recreation, and the West Virginia Army National Guard.
Honoring Our Heroes Through Horses provides equine assisted therapy and learning to Gold Star Families during the Gold Star Family Weekend held annually at Camp Dawson, WV. The weekend is held for families who have had loved ones in the Armed Forces who have been killed in combat or in support of certain military activities.
